Youth for Christ Australia

Youth for Christ Australia has a proud track record of engaging young Australians with the Gospel in ways that are fresh and effective, since the 1950s. One of the organisation’s strengths is its willingness to release individuals to tailor grassroots strategies and programs suitable for its 11+ different regions. While this has led to some fruitful ministry and unique, quality programs, it has also led to a heavily decentralized and at times fragmented culture.

The YFC board brought Capacity Builders on to build on its distinctive and compelling vision ‘that every young person in Australia be given an opportunity to be a follower of Jesus Christ’. There was a need to bridge the strategic gap between the overarching vision and the myriad of programs delivered by the various regions. To create alignment, a more robust national brand and a more compelling case for support nationally.

With the newly appointed National Director, Capacity Builders ran workshops Australia-wide with the YFC regional branches to develop a shared national strategic plan. This resulted in agreed organisation-wide two-year goals, with enough flexibility to tailor strategies for each location.

A brand strategy captured the very heart and personality of YFC and refocused the organisation on its ‘core business’ of sharing Jesus with young people in Australia. With this clarity came the opportunity to refresh all the materials and launch a new-look YFC in March 2010 which included:

  • New-look website – yfc.org.au
  • Revised ‘At the Heart’ newsletter
  • ‘Join the Movement’ DVD
  • National ‘Join the Movement’ brochure to invite funds and volunteers
"We had forgotten who we are. With Capacity Builders' process and direction, we now have a clear picture and can help the movement spread to ‘every young person’." Conrad Parsons
